Performing dry runs What is a dry run? A dry run is when you run a protocol using empty labware. A dry run allows you to troubleshoot a protocol or a component of the system without wasting valuable reagents and samples. You should always perform a dry run to check a new protocol. Correcting teachpoint errors After setting the teachpoints, be sure to perform a dry run as a final check for any teachpoint errors. The dry run also allows you to fine-tune orientation settings in systems that have the Direct Drive Robot. Preparing for a dry run You prepare for a dry run the same way you would prepare for a real protocol run. To review the protocol before a dry run, see Planning for the protocol run.
