Acceptable microplates Use only labware that meet the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards. You can contact the labware manufacturer to inquire about ANSI-compliant labware. Height limitations on shelves 1 and 2 In addition to the ANSI standards for labware, shelves 1 and 2 have a height restriction to ensure clearance for the pipette head. The maximum height of the labware that you can use on shelves 1 and 2 is dependent on several factors, such as the type of pipette head, tip size, and type of shelf. CAUTION If you are using long tips, the labware height on shelves 1 and 2 must be no taller than 24 mm.
