Cleaning the device exterior

This topic provides guidelines for periodic routine cleaning of the Microplate Labeler applicator to remove dust, grime, or chemical deposits on the exterior.
Before you begin

To avoid risk of electric shock, turn off the Microplate Labeler and disconnect the power cord before performing any maintenance or cleaning.

Do not use harsh abrasives, corrosive cleaning agents, or metal brushes to clean any Microplate Labeler component or accessory. The printer can be damaged by aggressive cleansers. Do not use abrasive cleaners, ethanol, or other solvents for cleaning the external surfaces or modules of the printer.
Ensure that you have the following:
• Standard laboratory wipes
• Mild soap-and-water solution
• Soft brush or vacuum cleaner
Procedure
To clean the Microplate Labeler:
1 If you have not already done so, shut down the Microplate Labeler and disconnect the power cord.
2 Clean the printer exterior as follows:
a Use standard laboratory wipes and a mild soap-and-water solution to clean the printer cover.
b Remove dust and paper fluff from the print area with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner.
3 To clean the painted white surfaces and the aluminum surfaces of the device, use standard laboratory wipes and a mild soap-and-water solution.
